Valve Worked on a Flying Fairy Game Prior to Left 4 Dead

A flying fairy (that's Tinkerbell in the image above) is hardly the sort of subject matter you might expect a Valve project to be based around, yet that's exactly what was in the works before the developer realized how terrible it was.

EA Sports MMA Not Releasing in Denmark
(via 1Up) - EA Sports new mixed martial arts game, EA Sports MMA, will not be released in the country of Denmark. It's not because they are against the sport of MMA, as some people are, but instead because Scandinavian law does not allow for energy drinks to be advertised.

More Country Tracks, Free Songs Coming to Rock Band
(via 1Up) - Harmonix has another batch of country songs primed for next week's Rock Band DLC update, in addition to a massive bundle of free tracks from the Rock Band Network. Kinect Capable of Following More than Two Players
(via 1Up) - While Microsoft has only really shown two people at most enjoying a Kinect game together in all their promotional material, that doesn't mean the technology isn't able to follow more players at once. Speaking to Videogamer, Xbox general manager Kudo Tsunoda said the limitation is really up to what developers think would work best for their games, but Kinect could recognize additional players if they wanted it to.

Microsoft to Deliver TGS 2010 Keynote
(via 1Up) - Microsoft execs will be delivering this year's Tokyo Game Show keynote, which will be the first of two keynotes when the show kicks off in September (via Adriasang). Tentatively titled "Xbox 360's Vision and 2010's Strategy," it will be deliveredy by Microsoft Home & Entertainment Division head Takashi Sensui and Microsoft Game Studio corporate vice president Phil Spencer.

Layoffs Hit Ghost Recon Developer Red Storm Entertainment
(via 1Up) - Red Storm Entertainment is the latest studio to be hit by layoffs. The Ubisoft-owned studio announced today that they cut 38 employees as part of a "realignment of production priorities." The studio is best-known for the Ghost Recon series, though Ubisoft Paris is leading the development of the upcoming Future Soldier.

Xbox 360 Update to Improve Voice Communication Quality

XBLA Puzzler Chime Getting PC Release via Steam
(via 1Up) - Non-profit game publisher OneBigGame has announced that it's bringing Chime to the PC later this summer. The PC version of the popular Xbox Live Arcade puzzler will be available exclusively on Steam, and like the XBLA release, portions of the proceeds (equivalent to 5 percent of the purchase price) will support charity organizations like the Starlight Children's Foundation and Save the Children.

Ken Levine Hasn't Ruled Out Returning to BioShock's Rapture
(via 1Up) - Irrational Games boss and BioShock creator Ken Levine may have left BioShock 2 to 2K Marin, but he hasn't ruled out a return to Rapture himself in the future -- so long as he has a good enough idea.
